Inducing move

  Difficulty: Advanced   Keywords: Go term

In a sequence B1, W2, B3, you can call B1 an inducing move if B3 is the key point, but the exchange B1/W2 makes it look even better.

Atari as inducing move

This type is quite common. Black wants to connect at the point B3. After W2 this looks forced, but works well now in two directions.

An example in context.
