Ito Showa (伊藤 松和 Itō Shōwa, 1801–1878) was one of the Tempo Four.

Ito played castle games as 7 dan. He was also known as Ito Matsujiro (伊藤松次郎). Showa was very fond of sake: see Alcohol and Go.

  • His win over Yasui Sanchi in 1839 took 405 moves and was the longest recorded game until 1950.
  • His 1841-04-28 game against Honinbo Shuwa is regarded as one of his lifetime masterpieces.
