Hane Yasumasa

Japanese 9 dan professional. Born 25 June 1944 in Mie, Japan.
Hane Yasumasa was a pupil of Shimamura Toshihiro and turned professional in 1958. He won the Oza and Okan titles.
He is the father of another professional 9-dan player, Hane Naoki, and through him, father-in-law of female 1p Hane Shigeko and grandfather of female 2p Hane Ayaka.
In May 2001 father and son played an official game in the preliminary tournament for the 2002 Kisei title. Hane jr. won that game to advance to the Kisei league.
He is a very loyal exponent of the high Chinese opening, employing it almost exclusively in his later career.
He was one of the first Japanese pros to use computers as a resource for studying Go. His first game on the internet go server was on 11 Dec 1993, a 2-stone handicap training against China’s strong amateur Zhong Jialin? (W+3.5).
