Tournaments

A Go tournament is a competition lasting one or more days, usually involving more than two players. The world of professionals and the world of amateurs each have their own tournaments. Normally these are separate, but many tournaments exist in which both classes can compete. Professional tournaments usually last longer and involve high prize money, while most amateur tournaments are held in one weekend and the objective of having fun prevails over that of raising a high prize fund.
