Kikuchi Yasuro

Kikuchi Yasuro (菊池 康郎, b. 20 Aug 1929, d. 3 Nov. 2021) was a Japanese, amateur 8-dan. He won many amateur titles, including Amateur Honinbo 13 times and the World Amateur Go Championship in 1992. In 1975, he founded the Ryokusei Academy and has been the teacher of several notable professionals.

On March 10, 2003, at age 73, he defeated a top professional, Ryu Shikun 7-dan, by 3.5 points in the 10th Agon Kiriyama Cup.
