Yashiro Kumiko (矢代 久美子) is a Japanese female professional Go player rated 6-dan. She was born on 31 July 1976 in Tokyo, Japan. She married Kanazawa Hideo 8p on 11 July 2006.

Early Go career

In 1989, in her first year of junior high school, she became an insei at the Nihon Ki-in. Next year, she moved into the Makuhari training center dormitory, with Kato Keiko as room mate, and was tutored by Cho Chikun and Fujisawa Hideyuki.

Promotion history

Yashiro became a professional in 1994. She was promoted to 2 dan in 1997, 3 dan in 1999, 4 dan in 2001, 5 dan in 2002, and 6 dan in 2013.

Achievements

Yashiro was the winner of the 24th Female Honinbo in 2005 versus Chinen Kaori and the winner of the 25th Female Honinbo in 2006 versus Kuwabara Yoko.

After a 12-year break from title matches, she won the right to challenge for the 30th Female Meijin. But she lost 0–2 to the defending champion Fujisawa Rina.
