Achievements
- In 2010, he was a single game away from reaching the Honinbo league.
- Winner in 2011 of the 8th Nakano Cup
- Winner in 2012 of the 7th Hiroshima Arumi Cup (unlike previous editions of the same cup counting as professional title).
- Winner in 2014 of the 1st Chisato Cup.
In 2018, he briefly made it into the Meijin league. He did poorly (2-5) and was demoted again, but was able to pull off a half point upset win over Iyama. It was because of this game that Shibano Toramaru was able to beat Iyama for the right to challenge Kono Rin for the title, which Shibano won.
He was on Iyama Yuta's (losing) five-player team (with Murakawa Daisuke, Ida Atsushi and Xie Yimin) in the 2020 online Heisei Panda Match.
Despite having been a promising young player, it doesn't seem like he's managed to win anything since 2014, or even reach a final. He is now coaching the 1st Japan Women's League.
