抱吃 (bào chī) is a Chinese go term that refers to an elementary capturing technique by atari, such as B1 here. It is very similar to a shunt.

For this term, 吃 (chī) means "eat". 抱 (bào), can be roughly understood as "to surround using arms", such as a "hug" or "embrace". Try to picture the Black stones as part of the body of a person and B1 as an arm extending to "hug" the White person, preventing White from escaping.

If W2 tries to escape, then B3 completes the surrounding by "hugging", and captures the White stones.
