2012 Lille

The second edition of the games took place in Lille (France), 9-23 August 2012.

The official site (for the Go events) was wmsg2012.org, which eventually disappeared. Here are archived snapshots of the site from 2012: [ext] August 16, [ext] August 18 and [ext] September 18.

2008 Beijing

The 2008 edition was held in Beijing, in October of that year. Kang Tongyun won the Men's Individual, and Ronghui Song won the Women's Individual.

The 2008 edition's rules have been published, and commented on.

The Go section of the tournament used a mixed system that used eight separate Swiss Pairing tournaments of up to 24 players to select two players. These sixteen players then competed in a Single Knockout Tournament to determine the final winner and other rankings.
