Japan-Taiwan Jingying

    Keywords: Tournament

The Japan-Taiwan Jingying is, or was, an international tournament first held in 2008, and last confirmed to have been held in 2011.

It's not clear what Jingying means. It might have been the name of a corporate sponsor.

The format was a knockout with sixteen unseeded competitors, eight Japanese and eight Taiwanese. The Japanese and Taiwanese players were paired against one another in the first round.

1st, 2008: So Yokoku d. Iyama Yuta
2nd, 2009: Kono Rin d. Chen Shiyuan
3rd, 2010: Zhou Junxun d. Matsumoto Takehisa
4th, (4-5 June) 2011: Chen Shiyuan d. Lin Zhihan

Wikipedia provides a [ext] crosstable for the 4th edition. This was sourced from Igo Kisen, but the original page disappeared without being archived.

In that 4th edition, Yamada Kimio and Xiao Zhenghao were semifinalists, and O Rissei, Rin Kanketsu, Zhou Junxun and Ye Hongyuan won their first games.

Wang Yuanjun (then only 15), Lin Lixiang and Zhang Kaixin of Taiwan; and Ogata Masaki, Takao Shinji, "Xie Ximin", [1] Mukai Chiaki and O Meien of Japan were eliminated in the initial round.

[1] Probably Xie Yimin.
