Ryan Li
Ryan Li (b. 3-10-1994;chinese transcription: 李立言) is a professional 1 dan in the American Go Association and professional 4 dan in the North American Go Association. He achieved professional status by defeating Eric Lui in the 3rd AGA professional qualification tournament on Jan. 9, 2015. He reached 3p in April 2021. He learned to play Go at age 6 in Haidian Qiyuan in Beijing from Guang Shao. He is a PhD candidate studying Atmospheric Sciences at Yale University, having studied Physics in University of Toronto as an undergraduate. Married to Chinese professional living in the US Stephanie Yin. They have a Youtube Channel about Go, NYIG_Go.
2017 - Progressed to 3rd round of 3rd MLily cup with wins against Cheng Honghao 2p and then a sensational win against world champion Chen Yaoye 9p (just 4.6% probability according to goratings.org), commentary at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHT-rbD1Ieo.
2017 - 2nd in the 2017 US Open Masters and 1st in the North American Masters.
2014 - Won the Canadian Open and placed 5th in the US Open.
2012 - Represented North America in the 1st MLILY professional tournament.
2010 - he represented Canada in the 5th Korea Prime Minister Cup and placed 7th.
