Kudo Norio
Kudo Norio (工藤紀夫, Born 2 August 1940) is a Japanese 9-dan professional of the Nihon Kiin. Pupil of Katsumoto Tesshu, then Maeda Nobuaki.
Won the Oza in 1977 and the Tengen in 1997, at the age of 57. Elected president of the International Go Federation in 2005, succeeding the late Kato Masao.
On 2011-10-06 Kudo obtained 1.000 wins in his career (13th player of the Nihon Kiin and 16th in Japan), beating Takanashi Seiken (his complete record is 1.000 wins, 613 losses and 4 jigo).
On 2024-01-22 he obtained his 1.100th win, beating Nobuta Shigehito in Preliminary C of the 50th Meijin Tournament. He has a record of 1.100 wins, 733 losses and 4 jigo.
