Imagist/Tesuji List

Sub-page of Imagist

This page is intended as a collection of tesuji where people can learn various tesuji and connect them with names. While I have tried to stick with "standard" names, I have taken the liberty of renaming some tesuji which have Japanese names, and naming some unnamed ones. I find that an easy-to-remember name makes tesuji stick in my head better. This is mainly for my own review, but I'm posting it here in the hope that others might find it useful.

Corner descent + ko prevention

W1 is a tesuji that works only in the corner. Along the side, B2 at a would win the capturing race. Even if black tries to start ko with B2, W3, and B4, W5 wins because black must make an approach move.

B1 and B7 are the tesuji. B1 seems to leave too many cutting points in black's shape, but B7 makes miai of a and b, because c is no longer a double threat.
