Black to play
[Diagram]
Black gets a ko

Black's life depends on ko, but this ko heavily favors black because black has three internal ko threats(a, b, and after b has been played, a threat shown in the next diagram).

Black gets a ko

Either of the marked points is a ko threat (if black takes one, white responds at the other).

If black is komaster, white should not respond to this ko threat, but should instead capture at c. This forces black to live small rather than the larger life given by winning the ko (or white may avoid the ko earlier).

White fails

White must avoid this tesuji by black.
