Heo Suhhyun
Heo Suhhyun (or Heo Seo-hyeon or Seohyun in revised romanization; Hangul: 허서현; Hanja: 許瑞玹) is a Korean female professional 4 dan Baduk player. She was born on 2002-05-30 in Jinju, Gyeongsangnam-do.
She played in the 2021 IBK Cup and 2022 Hoban Cup. Her first win was the 3rd Hyorim Cup Future Empress Tournament on 11 Sep 2024, for female players born after 2002, beating Yoon Ra-eun? 1p in the final. In the semifinal, she beat Nakamura Sumire for the first time on 9 Sep, after she had lost all three of their previous games.
On the world ranking list, Heo is ranked #27 female and #410 overall in the world, and #8 female in Korea (as of 26 Sep 2024)

Name
Her name is not always transcribed consistently. It is pronounced IPA: /hʌ sʌ hjʌn/, where all vowels are /ʌ/, similar to the vowel in the English word sun. Spellings like Heo Seo-hyeon or Huh Suhhyun are internally consistent, representing the same vowel with the same Latin letters.
Her given name means a precious or auspicious person, literally “precious jade”.

- 2024: Runner up of 4th Nanseolheon Cup (l. Kim Eunji 9p). She beat O Yujin 9p and Choi Jung 9p on the way. Heo Suhhyun comes from the Yangcheon Heo clan (양천 허씨) of the eponymous poet Heo Nanseolheon (née Heo Cho-hee, 1563–1589), and was called the “descendant of Heo Nanseolheon”.
