Amateur Meijin

(朝日アマチュア囲碁名人戦) The Amateur Meijin is a major tournament for Japanese amateurs. It has been held since 2006. The winner hold the title and is challenged by the knockout tournament winner next year in a 3-game match.

The games in 2020 were cancelled due to COVID-19.

Each year, the winner plays an exhibition game with the professional Meijin, playing Black and receiving 6.5 point komi.
