Note: for AI tournaments in go, it is common that events are "bring your own hardware", meaning that it is not just a test of the software. It is also a test of which team has the resourcing to provide good hardware, and can organise the logistics of getting things set up reliably. This is in contrast to computer chess tournaments, where the gold standard event, TCEC, runs all programs on the same server, meaning that it's a level playing field as far as hardware is concerned and it's designed as a pure test of which software is strongest.
