2020 World Artificial Intelligence Go Competition

"Haixia Bank Of Fujian Cup" 2020 World AI Go Open Competition (“福建海峡银行杯”2020世界人工智能围棋大赛) is a tournament for go programs held in 2020. The tournament is set up in two stages. The first stage is conducted online and the second is offline.

Online stage seems to be riddled with connection problems, a lot of games ended by timeout, including stronger engines.

Hardware for each engine is decided entirely by each entrant.

Rules^[1]

1. Swiss preliminary conducted online is the first stage.
2. Top 8 are qualified for offline finals.
3. Quarterfinals are decided by 3 games, semifinals by 5 games, final by 7 games. Match for 3rd place is only one game.
4. Number of rounds for group stage depends on number of participants, here it's 7.
5. Time control: 30m+5x60s.
6. Chinese rules, komi is 3.25 stones but if white passes first it's 3.75.
7. Standings ranked by: 1. Points; 2. Sum of opponents scores; 3. Direct match (only for two teams); 4. Decreased opponents scores: from the first round the opponents points are sequentially decreased and the remaining scores are compared; 5. If all tie-breaks fail and it affects promotion, an extra match.

Anonymous: It's unfortunate that so many matches had connection and timeout issues and that these matches were still counted as official. Two results of this is that it calls into question other aspects of the tournament and has caused many persons to be less interested in the tournament and its results.
