A finger is a group of stones that a player pokes into an opponent's territory. Alternative names sometimes used are worm or snake.

W1 starts a finger. Various responses for Black a - e were tried.

Finger variation d  

One way to defend is to play loosely.

Bad finger variation  

Often contact plays will not stop the finger.

Charles B4, B6, B8 are bad. In particular B8 is a classic squeezing out the toothpaste mistake.
