Han Sanghoon
Han Sanghoon (born May 16, 1988) is a Korean professional 9 dan. Professional shodan in early 2007. Promoted to 2 dan for reaching the finals of the 12th LG Cup on November 16 in 2007 under the new korean promotion system. Promoted to 4 dan in July 2009. Promoted to 6 dan in 2012-04-16 and 7 dan in 2014-02-14.
He astonished observers with good results since early 2007 by winning against top professionals as Ryu Shikun, Gu Li, Cho Hunhyun, Pak Yeong-hun. His early successes won him invitation for Team Daebang Nobleland in Korean Baduk League. He qualified for and reached the 3rd round in the Samsung Cup against Ma Xiaochun and Lee Changho and earlier in the LG Cup against Ryu Shikun and Gu Li. While he lost the 3rd round of the Samsung Cup, he reached the final of the LG Cup after two further wins against Liu Jing and On Sojin, thus being the first 1 dan professional ever to challenge for a major international title (as of October 2007).
Major achievements
- Reached but lost Challenger Decision match in the 2007 Wangwi against Yun Junsang.
- Reached but lost the final of the 12th LG Cup, where he played against Yi Se'tol, promoted to 2 dan for being finalist in an international tournament.
- Member of the Team Shinan Chunil Salt, winner of the 2010 Korean Baduk League.
