Reviews

David Carlton has a [ext] review of this book.

Logan? - As is the nature of the opening, it's always changing with the times. This book's emphasis is with the sanrensei, Chinese, Shusaku, and moyo/influence openings. In 2012, many of the ideas emphasized in the book will seem strange. However, even if this weren't the case many solutions are too narrow. But keeping an open mind, and not taking many of the solutions as gospel...it can still be a worthwhile book.

In light of these issues, I believe the required strength of the target audience is now higher. A stronger player will be required to judge when the solution is a matter of taste than truth.

At the current 21$ price (on Kiseido's website), I think it's best for dan players looking for extra opening practice. As for weaker players, I recommend Opening Theory Made Easy and 501 Opening Problems. But if you can find this book at a cheaper price, then I think it may be an interesting purchase.
