Bad style

This is usually applied as a general term for 'incorrect application of suji' - there is such a 'line of play', but it is counter-indicated for some good general reason (perhaps based on general principles or conventional wisdom). It is assumed that any strong player would say "yes, but you don't play that ...".

For amateurs it is rather harder to distinguish between 'bad style', having a bad overall style (too many amateurish mistakes), and 'bad attitude', meaning trying to win by less than artistic means. It is all perhaps one complex of ideas for the vast majority of fundamentally weak players.

Bad style is probably broader than vulgar play. See also Aesthetics.
