Dave Sigaty: I think that the simplest way to look at it is to ask the question why would Black exchange 1-4 before playing a pincer? In the present situation Black "forces" White to build a wall on the left before playing . It is almost impossible that Black is better for having done this rather than playing a pincer directly instead of .
