All About Ko
All About Ko by Rob van Zeijst and Richard Bozulich is volume 6 in the Mastering the Basics series.
Discussion
Unlike the book Fighting Ko, this one promises to explain whole board thinking in the context of ko. It starts from the basics of how to calculate the value of a ko and how big a ko threat must be in order for it to be a valid threat. The different kinds of ko are neatly explained in an organized way. A compact encyclopedia on ko. The sections on double ko, the 10,000-year ko, and bent-four-in-the-corner took all the mysteries out of these rather confusing positions by giving concrete examples on small boards. Following the exposition of theory is a problem section, progressing from easy to hard. Throughout the book are sprinkled Pro's game examples with in-depth analysis. --David Landau / PeterHB
