Tenuki-Fuseki

   

A so-called Tenuki-Fuseki may refer to an opening where a player - within the first moves - tenukis at least once from usual local josekis. This opening strategy seems similar to the one of the Split-Fuseki (see there). It is a very popular fuseki among professionals and stronger amateurs.

Here is an example from a game between Kono Rin (9p) as White and Gu Li (9p) as Black where the moves B3, B5 and B7 are tenuki-moves:
