Supreme Player
The Supreme Player, also called Korea's Strongest is a Korean professional tournament, a round robin league which selects a challenger to face the reigning champion in a best-of-five match.
See the Go to Everyone! section for more information. There is also a female equivalent, the Supreme Female Player (or, as GTE calls it, the "Supreme Player of Female").
In the first edition, in 2020, there was of course no incumbent. Shin Jinseo did the best in the eight player league (6–1), losing only to Park Junghwan. Park did the second best (5–2), and the two progressed to the match. Shin beat Park 3–0.
In the second (2021) edition, Shin, being the champion, did not have to play in the league, which had expanded to nine players. This time Park displayed an incredible performance, beating all eight of his opponents. His good form showed in the match, too, where he did better than in 2020; however, Shin was still able to defend his title successfully with a score of 3–2.
Shin Minjun was victorious in the league of the third edition (2022), scoring 7–1. In the title match Shin Jinseo defended the title with 3–1 victory.
In the fourth edition Park Junghwan again did what he did on the 2nd edition and won all 8 games. In the title match however he lost to Shin Jinseo 3–0.
In the fifth edition, Park Junghwan again won the final, but with 7–1. Again, he lost the title match to Shin Jinseo 3–0. This year also saw the Korean debut of Japanese girl prodigy Nakamura Sumire who was given a wild card entry. She was the only female and the youngest to have played in the main tournament, and won two games.
