Standard opening 4

Standard opening 4 is the widest path for Waltheri but starting at the second most popular move, which is a 3-4 point:

Moves 1 to 10  

B9 leaves the upper left joseki "unfinished", making for a dynamic opening. W10 prevents a double enclosure.

Moves 11 to 20  

B1 pincers. W6 prefers for a specific measure, combining W8 and W10

Moves 21 to 30  

Using a driving tesuji of sorts, W8 makes a hanging connection in sente so that next W10 can cut.

Moves 31 to 40  

The pattern continues in a one way street. White sacrifices 4 more stones in the corner, to get influence on the outside. W10 and next ...

Moves 41 to 48  

... W2 here turn Black's stones into an ugly lump. Black eventually captures cleanly with B7 but White gets sente to play W8 or a.

An astonishing 8 games between 2013 and 2016 all went for these same 47 opening moves.
