Attempt 1

Does B1 here work?

[Diagram]
Attempt 1

No, W2 kills, think bulky five.

[Diagram]
Attempt 2

Does B1 here work?

[Diagram]
Attempt 2

Unfortunately, the same W2 is the vital point that kills.

[Diagram]
Attempt 3

Does the jump at B1 work?

[Diagram]
Attempt 3

W2 reduces the eyespace, and then the placement at W4 kills.

[Diagram]
Attempt 4

It seems that the common point in killing has been at B1. How about playing B1 here? It seems most likely to live.

[Diagram]
Black lives 1

If W2 crawls in, B3 lives easily.

[Diagram]
Black lives 2

Now W2 tries to occupy the point required to make the second eye. B3 is natural, and B5 captures W2 in a connect-and-die.

[Diagram]
Black lives 3

What about W2 then? B3 captures the W2 stone and lives.

[Diagram]
Finally...

So, White tries again with W2. Black answers with B3, and it seems to live...

[Diagram]
Finally...

And W4 wedges in. Ah... Black is dead, due to shortage of liberties, and playing at a puts Black under self-atari.

Conclusion: In this problem, Black cannot live.
