Jan van Rongen
Born 1948, have played go since 1968 when I joined the Leiden Go Club (NL) just after it started. I have been a member since that day.
I started a site, My Friday Night Files with games by Cho Chikun in 1995. It got a bit out of hand later, when with more than 1370 games and 180 pages it became too complex to maintain. End 2002 I wrote a number of Python scripts that now generates the main part of the site from a database. The database now has nearly 1700 games (as of November 2006) and another 300 entries for games that I know that do exist but that I do not yet have.
Thanks to Kombilo by Ulrich Goertz I discovered Python and started to do some programming again.
In september 2003, I was invited to the First Incheon Baduk World Amateur Championship as a guest official. It was my first visit to the Far East. It was an unforgetable experience.
In september 2006, after nine years in office, I stepped down as president of the Dutch Go association.
