Igo Nenkan

1) The Nihon Ki-in's Igo Nenkan (囲碁年鑑, "Go Yearbook") is a yearly publication issued every June (available in May). It was and is published as a special issue of the Kiin's main magazine, Kido (from 1961 to 1999) and Gekkan Go Waarudo (from 2000). In fact, it is a four hundred page softcover book.

Now available in Kindle format on Amazon Japan (from 2020 edition). It's also included in the Kindle Unlimited service.

Igo Nenkan includes articles and pictures of domestic title matches including the seven main tournaments, women's tournaments, and other tournaments (e.g., NHK Cup) as well as game records. It even covers some league and play off games, about three hundreds in all. Most game records have commentary, ranging from two diagrams and two paragraphs on a single page for main title match games to a single diagram and a few sentences for tournament play offs or league games. In contrast, Gekkan Go Waarudo ("Go World" magazine) may have two to five pages of commentary on the same title match game.

It also includes coverage of international tournaments and amateur tournaments. It has win/loss counts for each player, rankings, achievements, and short biographies of each Japanese player and some international players.

2) Heibonsha published "Igo Nenkan" (囲棋年鑑) in 1934, after the success of "Shin Fuseki-ho". It contained game records from the Oteai and newspaper sponsored events, brief history of Go and directory of players with Nihon Kiin diploma, including amateurs. Discontinued after one issue.
