Goemate was one of the strongest computer go opponents , it was programmed by Chen Zhixing of China.

Previously, Goemate was known as Handtalk, and it has been completely rewritten. Handtalk was famed for being the last winner of the Ing Prize.

A version named Handtalk III won the 2005 Computer Olympiad.

It appears that the Wulu team is led by the same author.

Mark.SG: HandTalk engine was programmed by Dr Chen Zhixing of China, but the software is from company Koei Japan. [ext] http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/products/products/ee/Rlshudan5.htm

Kibi: Sources close to Dr. Chen tell me that as far he never agreed to a change of name. It is still sold under that name in North America. What is the source of this information?

Phelan: That information was added to a previous version of Handtalk and moved here when the former became a disambiguation page. That's all I know.
