American Go Foundation
The American Go Foundation is a charitable tax-exempt 501c3 organization that promotes go in the United States in various ways. They focus on helping
teachers integrate go into the classroom, supporting
after-school go programs, and helping young adult
librarians in school and community libraries. They also help many other types of teaching programs. Approved teaching programs can receive:
- A free
Starter Set for up to 24 new players

Matching grants to purchase additional equipment
- Use of
The AGF Teacher Store to purchase equipment and supplies that are not available to the general public

Special discounts from vendors for approved programs

"Fiscal agency" status, which means that a program can apply for grants directly using the AGF infrastructure
- A "mentor," an experienced teacher/organizer that will help new programs get started and be successful
- The AGF
Teacher of the Year Award, an all-expenses-paid trip to the US Go Congress
The AGF also provides the following services for the American general public:

Tiger's Mouth, a moderated youth website for playing go and meeting other players (freely available worldwide)

Sensei, a newsletter for teachers and organizers (freely available worldwide)

The AGF College Scholarship, a $1000 award for the best college-bound organizer (not necessarily the best player)
- The AGA Starter CD, more than 300 MB of playing programs, beginners' instruction, commented games and other resources for new players

Go As Communication, a book about the value of teaching go, free to any teacher
