I worry that the "hint" for this problem offers too much information--it could cause more confusion than it solves. Perhaps a better hint would be a single sentence: "If white isn't careful, black will be able to make a seki" or similar.
This very long hint makes me think that perhaps this exercise should be moved to kyu exercises...
Yes. There is seki, there is almost fill, there is the notion of a cutting point. For me it had width 2 and depth 3, while a beginner exercise should probably have both width and depth 1 for a dan player. --Dieter
I reviewed a few other beginner exercises and they don't meet my criterion either. So this one is probably well categorized.
Since it's number 276 of a series, I guess people won't be complete beginners by the time they get to this one, so I don't have a problem with the difficulty level. I just want to know if anyone would be terribly upset if I delete the hint and replace it with something shorter.
