Stephen Hu
Stephen Hu (also known as Xiaocheng-Stephen Hu, Xiaocheng Hu, Hu Xiaocheng,[1] xhu98 and xhu [2]) is a strong Chinese American amateur, AGA 6d.
Currently, he is primarily visible as an English language commentator on AGA broadcasts, eg. for the Quzhou Lanke Go Supermatch. At the moment, he reportedly lives and works in China, his last American tournament participation having been in February 2020.
He is a senior OGS moderator, and of the OGS forum?.
Stephen has a Youtube channel which he posted on from 2015 to 2017. He also streams on Twitch, though not often since ca. 2018; and used to manage the Redmond's Reviews broadcasts.
He has videos covering his games against TheCaptain, Shawn Ray (Clossius), Mark5000? and Ryan Li (Crazywind). The last of these was played in the semifinal of the 2015 Creators' Invitational?.
Stephen is attested on his AGA profile from October 2014, originally as a 3d but with a swift ascent to 5d by August 2015. He reached 6d by early 2017. Santa Barbara Go Club, Los Angeles is his AGA chapter.
[1] The hanzi are perhaps 胡孝成, and the tones Hú Xiàochéng.
[2] xhu is an abbreviation of Xiaocheng Hu, and he pronounces it "ex-hoo". Many people, though, pronounce it with an approximated pinyin value of X, as "shoe".
