Special templates

Special templates provide additional functionality. They are predefined and cannot be modified, unlike user-defined templates. Currently available special templates:

Generic Templates

• Search template
• Image template
• Table template
• Anchor template

Special purpose templates

• "Most popular" template (as used on MostPopular)
• Homepages template (as used on HomePages)
• "Undefined pages" template (as used on UndefinedPages)
• "List distance" template (as used on PagesByDistance and DistanceFromFrontpage)

Syntax

• All special templates start with the prefix "special:". Example: "special:table"
• There is a short syntax available as well: you can omit the "special" (but not the colon.) Example: ":table"
