Peter Zandveld
I learned to play go at a very young age, but started to play seriously when I was 21 in 1976. I have been playing regularly ever since.
The first European go congress I played in was 1977 Rijswijk, in the Netherlands. From that year on I played in all up to and including 2009 Groningen (33 times). In 1985 I was on the organizing team. I am waiting for the moment the European go congress and the US go congress are not interfering, so I can visit both:)
After a couple of years playing it was clear to me that the top level of European go was increasing faster than my playing strength. Also my interest in Go politics took away a lot of time. I was present at the EGF general meetings most years, first as a representative of the NGoB the Netherlands go association, later auditor of the EGF.
Recently I have become a member of the board of the foundation running the EGCC, the European go centre.
My main involvement in the Go scene co-ownership of the company Schaak en Gowinkel het Paard. This company is distributing go books, as well as co-publishing books in cooperation with kiseido, oromedia and yutopian.
