Kim Ha-yoon

Family and early Go/Baduk career
Kim was born on 5 September 2011. Aged 10, Kim won the junior division of the 37th World Youth Goe Championship. In the final, Kim beat 11-year-old Yanagihara Saki, who had beaten Yin Chengzhi 1p,
called “the future of Chinese Go”, in the other semifinal.
Kim became the youngest Korean professional at the time, aged 12 years and 4 months.

Achievements
Kim is 2 years and 6 months younger than prodigy “genius girl” Nakamura Sumire 3p, but achieved professional rank two years older than she did. But on 11 Dec 2024 in an unofficial U23 tournament, Kim scored an upset win over Sumire with a very clever move. Both Kim and Sumire admire Park Jung-hwan 9p.
