One space high extension from a corner stone. The corner stone can also be on the 3-4 point for instance. This extension will usually be played in answer to a kakari, for instance at a: see 4-4 point low approach high extension. It can also be played as a reinforcement when Black has mapped out a framework and wants to make it difficult for White to invade (4464 enclosure).
