    Keywords: Question

Is there a way to punish black 9 here? Or is it just a normal way to play the joseki with a switched order of moves? ( I seem to have seen this black 9 fairly often recently, so I'm wondering if its something I'm misunderstanding. )

tapir: If you prefer the second variation you are perfectly free to answer B1 at B3 with W2 at W4.
