B3 is a nice placement. White dies.

Hence, White should not use this technique as a raw invasion.

Bill: It may have value as a probe.

W1 makes a ko shape, but B2 plays to kill.

After W9, the ladder (a) and the semeai (b) are miai.

If the ladder does not work, B1 takes the corner.

But first White plays shibori on the right.

White seals the corner  

Then White seals the corner with W2 - W4.

This is generally good for White. Black has lost at least one move. See tewari.
