Is this tournament in 2010 a double elimination format?

valerio: No. The format is strange. The winner of the first game goes directly to the final; the loser plays another game (semi-final) against the third Meijin; the third and last game is the final.

The history of this format was discussed elsewhere by John Fairbairn. [ext] http://lifein19x19.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=927

This system is very unfair to the player who gets bye in first round.Assuming 3 players have equal strenght(so chances of winning against other two players are 50%) chances of winning tournament if u get bye are only 25%, and if you dont get bye are 37.5% - basically if you get buy to win tournament you must win all 2 games, but if you dont get bye you can lost once, extremely unfair.Who invented this nonsense?!
