Searcher? 4 seems to be kikashi, or perhaps more specifically yosu-miru. It would be logical to connect, though this of course depends on the position of the surrounding stones. Simply put, cutting these stones would have a myriad of benefits for Black, with potentially unnecessary complication for White.
