Bob McGuigan: Some of these "kanji" are the Chinese versions of the Japanese names. The characters are a bit different, maybe the simplified versions. For example the names for Goto Shoji and Goto Shunji, which I just changed to the Japanese kanji. Your source web page is a Chinese page and I suspect that a number of other names are the Chinese versions rather than the Japanese versions.
valerio Code used by Velobici is gb2312 for all names; your code is big5 or shift-jis. Now, if you copy and paste the new kanji name, some character could be lost.
Bob McGuigan: It is as I thought. gb2312 is a Chinese character set. If it is desired to have simplified Chinese characters rather than Japanese kanji something should be said so that the list is not misinterpreted.
Velobici, what you pasted into SL is also in Chinese. I have translated them, probably it is useful for you.
Actually, while Japanese kanji and traditional Chinese characters have a great deal of overlap, there are still some differences. An example: Shibuya - 渋谷 (Japanese) - 涉谷 (Chinese).
Bob McGuigan: Maybe the list should be renamed to Japanese Player Names as Shown in Chinese Publications. Here is another example:

In Japanese: 石倉昇 (Ishikura Noboru)
If someone who isn't familiar with Chinese or Japanese tries to use this list to decode player names in a Japanese book there may be difficulties.
