A japanese player said that "oshego" is also a term for a teaching game. He's fairly new to the game and didn't know the term "shidogo". Any opinions on that?
Bob McGuigan: I suspect this person actually said oshigo, maybe 教碁 in kanji, a combination I've never seen before. It makes some sense because 教 ON reading kyou, is the root of 教える (oshieru: teach, give lessons, coach). In any case, I think the standard Japanese word for teaching game is shidougo 指導碁.
