Sealing the game

(Not to be confused with sealing a move, which is a procedure for adjourning a game.)

In game commentaries you can often read "with move x, player Y seals the game", meaning that the player having the advantage has found a move to ensure himself of victory, save for a blunder, at the players' level. There are some techniques for doing that.

• Lose a ko to win the game
• Force your opponent to start a ko that he cannot win
