Nozawa Chikucho
Nozawa Chikucho (野沢竹朝, 1881-1931) was a professional 7 dan and pupil of Honinbo Shuei. He was known for tactless public criticisms of top players, including his elders like Shusai. As a result, he was finally deprived of his 5 dan rank in 1918. Later reconciled with Shusai in 1923.
His style emphasized quick development in the opening as his teacher, and he was nicknamed the "little Shuei".
Nozawa took part in the Kiseisha team in their match against the Nihon Ki-in with respectable results. Nozawa died of tuberculosis during his jubango against Suzuki Tamejiro.
