Kang Hun

    Keywords: People

(b.1957) Korean pro, 9 dan in 1996.

He is still active in 2022, at the venerable age of 65, playing mainly in the Korean Senior Baduk League.

Kang has reached the finals of at least three tournaments, all of them now defunct.

  • 1986: Runner up in the 12th Gukgi
  • 1987: Runner up in the 13th Gukgi
  • 1987: Winner of the 4th Bacchus Cup
  • 2000: Runner up in the Pro Senior

These days he's perhaps best known for having played one of the shortest ever professional games. To quote John Fairbairn,

Kang Hun resigned a 1995 game after just two moves in the Kuksu. He was ill but turned up to "play" so that he could ensure his game fee.
