Im Sang Gyu
Im Sang-Gyu (임상규, b. 21 March 1997) is a South Korean professional 2-dan.
Im is the second of two sons of father Lim Byeong-sik and mother Jo Jeung-seon
He was the first professional player from Andong. He turned relatively late in life to professional Go, by qualifying at the 148th General Entrance Competition in 2021, a the age of 24. It was his 10th attempt. He was previously a professional engineer.
He became a 2 dan on 27 December 2023 after some outstanding results. He was selected for the Korean national team and for the 5th Supreme Player challenger tournament. He and the Japanese girl prodigy Nakamura Sumire 3p were the only non-9-dans in this tournament. He lost all his games, including by half a point against Nakamura.
