California State Go Championship

Californian tournament, est. 2018. The open tournament is also known as the King Cup California State Go Championship. It's hosted sometimes, or perhaps always, by the San Diego Go Club.

A similar event called the TRENDnet Southern California Go Championship was held between 2011 and 2013.

The 1st (2018) edition was won by American professional Calvin Sun. Yi Wang 6d (2018 San Diego Champion) and Yufei Jin 6d were runners up. There were "almost 80 go players competing". [ext] More info.

The 2nd (2019) edition was won by Evan Lin 7d. Yifan Yu 6d was runner up. There was a tie for third place, between Bo Luan 6d, Sato Kosuke 5d, Muzhen Ai 7d, Ming Lin 6d and Yi (Michael) Wang 6d. [ext] More info

The 3rd (2020) edition was played online, probably on KGS. It was won by Bo Luan. Zhengbokang Tang 8d was runner up and Yixian Zhou 6d placed third. "(Non-Californian) players hailed from New York, Vermont, Florida, and Oregon, and were from 7 to 75 years old." [ext] More info

The 4th (2021) edition will be held November 27-28.

U-16 tournaments

There are three U-16 tournaments. Participation in these excludes the competitors from also playing in the open tournament of that year.

There's a U-16 Boys' and a U-16 Girls'. It seems that there were originally also a Boys' 13x13 and a Girls' 13x13, but that the two were later unified. And the 13x13 tournament(s) is apparently distinct from the Open 13x13. This is unclear, though.
