kokiri yes, but the first cut is sacrificed to cut the other side - see below. the general rule is cut the side you don't want

Captures the corner  

kokiri - this gives a ponnuki on the side, which may be large

builds the outside  

kokiri - this may rely on a ladder, depending on whether white is strong along the top (so at a might be playable)
